Enrollment Steady at Minnesota Private Colleges

A report issued [PDF] Monday by the Minnesota Private College Research Foundation shows that enrollment at the colleges was flat compared to last year.
According to the report, enrollment increased 1 percent from 2008 to 2009. Undergraduate enrollment, which accounts for 72 percent of students, increased .3 percent while graduate enrollment increased by 2.8 percent. From 2004 to 2009, total full-time enrollment increased 17.7 percent at the graduate level compared to 5.3 percent at the undergraduate level.
The strength of the state lies in the intelligence of its citizens. Minnesota’s private colleges plays an important part of that equation. While it would be nice to report a healthy uptick in college enrollment, staying even in these difficult times is good news enough.
The following institutions make up the Minnesota Private College Council: Augsburg College, Bethany Lutheran College, Bethel University, Carleton College, College of Saint Benedict, College of St. Scholastica, Concordia College Moorhead, Concordia University St. Paul, Gustavus Adolphus College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Saint John’s University, Saint Mary’s University, St. Catherine University, St. Olaf College and the University of St. Thomas
